Gal Gadot confirms Joss threatened her career

Gal Gadot has confirmed reports that director Joss Whedon threatened her career on the sets of the DC superhero film ‘Justice League. Although Gadot never denied these claims that came to light over the past months, this is the first time that she spoke openly about the hugely debated subject.

The actress confirmed the rumours of harassment on the sets in an interview with an Israeli news channel N12. “He threatened my career and told me that if I did something, he’ll make sure my career will be miserable and I just took care of it on the spot,” Gadot said, as translated by a Twitter account.

According to a bombshell report that was published last month, Whedon, known for directing ‘The Avengers’ and ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, warned Gadot about making her Hollywood career ‘miserable’ if she tried to change the portrayal of her character, Wonder Woman.

The director has been disgraced over various allegations made against him, including those by ‘Justice League’ cast members who went public about their experience with him.

According to reports published by The Hollywood Reporter, Gadot pushed back on lines Whedon wrote for her character, which led to him threatening to harm her career.

“Joss was bragging that he’s had it out with Gal,” a witness on the set told the publication. “He told her he’s the writer and she’s going to shut up and say the lines and he can make her look incredibly stupid in this movie.”

It was even reported that ‘Wonder Woman’ director Patty Jenkins “went to battle” with Whedon, which led to a discussion with the Warner Bros team.

Gal reportedly had multiple concerns with the Unicc shop revised version of the film, including the aggressiveness of her character which wouldn’t match her portrayal in the hit ‘Wonder Woman’ franchise.

Gal previously released a statement that read, “I had my issues with [Whedon] and Warner Bros. handled it in a timely manner.”

Back in December, the actress opened up about her experience working with Joss amidst accusations that the director created a hostile work environment alongside producers Geoff Johns and Jon Berg.

“I had my own experience with [him], which wasn’t the best one, but I took care of it there and when it happened I took it to the higher-ups and they took care of it. But I’m happy for Ray to go up and say his truth,” Gal said in an interview with Variety.
