Garth Marenghis Darkplace Series is a British drama mini-series created for Channel 4 starring Richard Ayoade and Matthew Holness as the main characters. The series focuses on fictional writer Garth Marenghi and several other minor characters who originally appeared in the Garth Marenghi`s Fright Knight stage play. Garth Marenghi is a British horror writer who has written for a number of different publications in the past. A sequel to the Necromancer film was then planned, and a sequel to the Garth Marenghis Darkplace series was already in development at the time of the film’s release.

Garth Marenghis has written eleven novels in his Garth Marenghis Darkplace series, which have sold more than two million copies worldwide. The Garth Marenghis novels are set in cities all throughout the Midwest and the Great Lakes region. The stories are set in Chicago, Iowa, New York City, St Louis, and Cleveland. Movie Review: Shakeela

Vidya Balan’s much loved 2011 film THE DIRTY PICTURE told the story of a Southern siren Silk Smitha. Audiences loved the depiction of the Southern industry of the 80s and the hypocrisy of a society which was exposed in the Milan Luthria-directorial. 9 years later, now Richa Chadha takes up the part of another popular Southern heroine, Shakeela, in the film, titled SHAKEELA. So does SHAKEELA manage to give an entertaining and thought-provoking time to the audiences? Or does it fail to impress? Let’s analyse.

SHAKEELA is the biopic of the adult star Shakeela. The year is 1990. Shakeela (Kajol Chugh) is a young school girl living in the small town of Vallamkulam, Kerala with her parents and a couple of siblings. She belongs to a poor family and his mother is constantly upset over their condition. Shakeela is always interested in acting and when she gets a chance to play Draupadi in the school play, she readily accepts it. She even wins a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 1000. The same day, however, her father passes away. Her mother takes Shakeela and her siblings to the city of Cochin. Her mother was a junior artist in the film industry at one point and she decided to try her luck in cinema again. Soon, however, her mother has a change of plan. She takes Shakeela to filmmaker Rajan Pillai (Vivek Madan) and asks her to cast Shakeela in one of his adult films. Rajan agrees. Shakeela, however, runs away from the first day of the shoot and blasts her mother for making her act in such movies. Her mother, however, tells her to not back out as it would help their family have a decent standard of living. Shakeela has no choice but to go with the flow. Soon, she starts getting a lot of film offers. 9 years later, Shakeela (Richa Chadha) has grown up and has achieved popularity but is not yet a star. She is a huge fan of superstar Salim (Pankaj Tripathi) and one day, she gets a chance to be the junior artist in his film. Salim has a roving eye and he gets attracted to her, despite having a family. He tells Shakeela that she’ll play the lead in his next film and that she should meet him at his farmhouse at night for a ‘narration’. Shakeela gets the hint and refuses to go. She climbs the ladder of success, without sleeping around with anyone. A day comes when she becomes as popular as Salim. Salim gets insecure. He tells his friends in the media to spread the word that it is Shakeela’s soft porn films that are responsible for the rising sex crimes in Kerala. This ignites a debate and people come out on the streets, demanding a ban on her films. The producers of her upcoming films panic and she has no choice but to return the fees that were given to her for those movies. What happens next forms the rest of the film.

Indrajit Lankesh’s story is alright but could have made for a shocking fare. Sunil Kumar Agarwal’s screenplay (additional screenplay by Janardhan Maharshi, Rohan Bajaj and Naireeta Dasgupta) is the biggest culprit. The writing is weak and moreover, with so many writers scripting, it becomes a case of too many cooks spoiling the broth. The film’s tone changes every 15-20 minutes. Only a few scenes here and there are well scripted. Rohit G Banawlikar, Rohan Bajaj and Ashish Waghmare’s dialogues are very poor. There were some crucial scenes where the impact could have been great but the dialogues play spoilsport. A few dialogues were sharp and acidic but the makers compel the characters to repeat them and hence, the effect gets diluted.

Indrajit Lankesh’s direction is lacklustre. To give credit where it’s due, the director ensures that one is not reminded of THE DIRTY PICTURE, despite that both films are on the same lines. And moreover, Silk Smitha, the protagonist of that film, also has a part in SHAKEELA. However, THE DIRTY PICTURE had class even though it was about a sexy siren. SHAKEELA, on the other hand, seems like just another soft porn film which Shakeela did in the prime of her career. Funnily, the film exposes the double standards of society but the focus on body shots and titillation goes against the very message of the film. Till the first half, the film was still bearable. In the second half, it becomes bizarre. Audiences are suddenly told that all this while Shakeela has a best friend, Suhana (Ester Noronha), who is her body double. However, the makers chose not to show their friendship for one full hour. Shakeela’s bond with her mother was a great track but it’s treated in a superficial manner. Her family, in fact, is forgotten for the most part of the film. Shakeela’s epic dialogue in the climax comes too late in the day. The text in the end which informs viewers about Shakeela’s present state is a shocker. Instead of lauding the makers, one feels angry at them as viewers would realize that this was such a great story but has now gone down the drain due to bad handling.

SHAKEELA’s opening scenes give an indication that it’s going to be a substandard product. The childhood portion of Shakeela seems cute. The scene where school kids are made to enact the scene of Draupadi’s cheer haran in a school play is difficult to digest. The film gets a bit better as Shakeela achieves the pinnacle of success. However, the film never really goes on a high. Post-interval, the film goes downhill as random and bewildering sequences pop up. Shakeela’s struggle to make a ‘clean’ film should have been a gripping plot point but the attention wavers considerably. The ending, though shocking, fails to create an impact.

Richa Chadha is decent but her performance leaves a lot to be desired. She does try her best but the end result is not satisfactory. Kajol Chugh, who plays the young Shakeela, is way better and leaves a mark. Pankaj Tripathi is fine as an egoistic superstar. Some of the best scenes of the film are when a fight master helps him in-cheat shots while shooting for action scenes. These scenes had no connection with the main plot but made the film slightly more engaging. Ester Noronha has a fine presence but is let down by poor dialogues. Rajeev Pillai (Arjun) is alright. Vivek Madan and Sundeep Malani (Director Swamy Sir) are okay. Sheeva Rana (Silk) and the actors playing Shakeela’s mother, actress Bhavana Menon, writer Ahmed Ali, Danny Fight Master and Thomas Financier are nothing great.

Music has no scope, although a film should have had a nice, retro soundtrack. ‘Tera Ishq Satave’, played in the opening credits, is forgettable. The random placing of intimate scenes looks forced. Even ‘Taaza’ is not memorable and the same goes for the romantic track. Veer Samarth’s background score is slightly better.

Santosh Rai’s cinematography is passable. The focus on body shots for titillation could have been avoided. Production design gives no reason for complaint. Ballu Saluja’s editing is random in the second half.

On the whole, SHAKEELA rests on a very good and shocking story but is executed horribly. It has released in cinemas without any buzz and hence, it would sink without a trace.

Monster Series: A compilation of short stories based on real-life events and topics. Created as a series, the first book in the series was Monster Series: The Monster Book. It tells the story of a normal family as they try to deal with the personal and professional lives of monsters. The second book in the series, Monster Series: The Monster Book II covers a different aspect of the monster families’ lives. This is followed by Monster Series: The Monster Companion.

Michael Grant has created six books in the Monster Series. The first one was released in June 1997 and the last one, Monster Series: The Monster Book III, was released in August of the same year. The original story is set in a small town called Oak Island, and centers around the interactions between a human named Jack Shepherd and an alien called Silvergon. The story takes place on the quiet streets of Oak Island, a remote island located off the coast of Australia. The locals of Oak Island are constantly plagued by the paranormal and have formed a committee to investigate all possible means of protecting their home. Monster families are born from the violent deaths that occur there.

Monster Series: The Monster Companion picks up after the events of Monster Series: The Monster Book II. While on vacation, Jack Shepherd’s daughter Summer goes missing. A search for her leads him and his friend to the mysterious town of Middletown, where they meet a strange android named APE. APE identifies himself as a member of an alien race called the APE System, who are harvesting human beings for onward use. As the friendship between the three grows, the reader begins to learn just how sinister the scheme is.

Monster Series: The Monster Companion was made into a TV series on the SyFy Network in May of 2021. It aired on Fridays at 9PM PST and features an all new cast of characters, including writers Hope Summers (Samantha Rose) and Michael Chiklis (Ben Kingsley), along with the returning April Collins as Kaylee Price. The Monster Book II book is supposed to be the second in a trilogy about the Monster Family, though a release date has not yet been given. Some reports indicate that the book may be coming out in June, 2021, but that date has yet to be confirmed either way.

Monster Series not the GODZILLA

There are also rumors concerning a potential third Monster Series book, entitled Monster III. In addition to the original book’s Michael Chiklis and Summer Glauberman, this third book is said to feature Christophermond as an antagonist, and to delve deeper into the world of the APE System. No further details about the plot have been released, but according to several sources such as an interview with the author, the Monster Series is officially going to continue for at least three more books.

Michael Chiklis also stars as Dr. Isaac Reiskin, the only human member of the APE team who is fluent in the language of the Monsters, and is forced to work alongside the monsters instead of with them. However, when a trio of alien invaders crash land on Earth, only Reiskin can speak and understand their language. As the war between the Monsters and the humans begins to rage, Reiskin must struggle to understand what he’s fighting for, while trying to protect those he cares about from the monsters. Along with Summer Glauberman, this new book is expected to be another big hit for 2021. As the ex-Kaiser darkness release date approaches, it’s looking like this series will continue to receive popularity, making it a good choice for a new book reading genre.

Based on the novels by former New York Times investigative reporter Michael Hastings, Mindhunter is a thriller about two unlikely heroes. Detailed reports and interviews from some of the most notorious serial killers in history form the basis of this award-winning series. When a serial killer strikes, police often require the assistance of an outside professional to get inside the killer’s mind to figure out exactly how he thinks. That is the duty of FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench, who pursue the criminals through interviews and surveillance.

The Mindhunter Series is based around a new program developed by the FBI. Mindhunter is a relatively small, real-life program that is designed to fill in the gaps left when the more traditional forms of investigation fail. This highly realistic program about serial crime was created by Will Eickerton, who is the brains behind Mindhunter.

The Mindhunter Series tells the story of the first case, the team investigates. It involves a serial killer who kills his victims with a knife hidden in his hand. Through the course of the series, Holden and his partner, FBI agent Lisa Cole, learn more about this killer and about the psychological methods he uses to kill his victims. There are many similarities between the fictional Mindhunter and the real-life program, but there are also several differences as well.

One of the major differences between the Mindhunter Series and the real-life program is the way in which psychological profiling and the profiling of criminal behavior are dealt with. In the Mindhunter book, we learn about all the various techniques used by Mindhunter to profile criminals: their childhood, their personality, their history, even their religious and spiritual beliefs. We see how Mindhunter creates a profile of a suspect based on all these pieces of information, and how this information is then compared to all the known patterns of serial crime. We see how this information helps to narrow down suspects into smaller groups so that the investigation can be more focused.

Mindhunter Series also differs from the real-life program in the way that it deals with classifieds and the media. Unlike Mindhunter, the TV show does not extensively deal with the serial nature of the crimes; instead, the programme explores the criminal’s thought process and the different aspects of a case, from laying down of a plan, handling logistics, gathering evidence, and testimonies. As one would expect, television shows dealing with crimes that were committed in the public, and have high moral standards usually deal with the criminal while Mindhunter deals with the criminal’s inner thoughts. The non-fiction book Mindhunter is also different from the real-life program in the way that it is fictional and not based on a true story. This is evident in the way the programme’s main character, Detective Sergeant Timothy Kehmper, gradually falls in love with several women.

Mindhunter Series was developed by executive producer Tom Wheeler and  Avenger endgame showrunner Frank Petracci. Mindhunter executive producer and writer Rich Widmann serve as the co-creators of the Mindhunter series, having written the first season, while TV producer Robert Capra and his production company, Time Warner Inc. worked as the producers of the original series. The TV show Mindhunter was created for an extended period of time, making it one of the most successful television shows of all time. The first season produced over eighteen episodes, making Mindhunter one of the most popular TV shows of all time, even if it was not very popular with critics and viewers. The third season featured the return of the long-running storyline, The Randy Sandusky Scandal. This scandal caused lots of turmoil in South Park, forcing a lot of changes in South Park, most notably, Randy’s firing from Chef. But no matter how much trouble they were in, the writers always manage to find new and funny ways to bring them back around.

The writers also manage to keep the characters’ humor despite some very serious topics. In seasons past, many episodes had violent and gory content, such as the gory “ogsue eating contest.” However, in this latest season, they decided to try something a little more wholesome. Instead of featuring a bloodbath, they decided to feature a cake contest to see which boy could bake the most cookies in the shortest amount of time.

South Park has always been one of my favorite television shows. It’s funny, it’s outrageous, and it’s a whole lot of fun to watch. However, I believe that they have managed to go too far in their attempts to be edgy. Cartman and other characters seem to veer away from the original cultural references, and that in itself can be a problem for some viewers. However, I believe that they still have a lot of room to grow, especially if they start to focus more on becoming a cultural icon themselves.

Superman has been around for over 80 years, and in that time he’s made friends with the strangest characters in all comic book history. Beyond that, Kal-El has also become close companions with the most unlikely people fans could imagine, including characters who were previously the deadliest villains in Superman’s rogues’ gallery.

If these friendships prove anything, it’s that Superman is one of the most forgiving, most amiable, and most hopeful characters around. All of these things definitely apply to Superman, although with some of the friendships he’s had throughout the years, even the Man of Steel may have had to think twice about them.

10 Lex Luthor

Considering Lex Luthor is often thought of as Superman’s greatest enemy, and the person that hates Superman more than anything else in existence, it’s funny how often the two of them have ended up as friends. Throughout various reboots, and including the ever-popular Smallville TV series, Clark Kent and Lex Luthor are portrayed as having grown up together in Smallville until their different personalities pushed them apart. For a long time in the recent New 52 comics, Lex Luthor became a full member of the Justice League, even if Superman didn’t always trust him. In the Injustice series of games and comics, the corrupt Superman and Lex have always been best friends, until Superman goes too far with his Regime and Lex tries to kill him. It’s a friendship that’s doomed from the start.

9 The Quik Bunny

Out of all of Superman’s strangest crossovers in comics, they don’t come more bizarre and surprising than sharing a drink of tasty Nesquik with the corporation’s rabbit mascot. Made as part of a promotional tie-in comic by DC and Nestlé, and written by “Death of Superman” writer Mike Carlin, “Superman Meets The Quik Bunny” features Superman, the Quik Bunny, and the Quik Qlub kids thwarting Flash foe the Weather Wizard. After this, the friends challenge each other to a Nesquik drinking contest, although it’s hard to imagine any of them beating Superman.

8 Mr. Mxyzptlk

The trickster imp from the fifth dimension, Mr. Mxyzptlk is the very definition of a strange friendship. That’s even if fans discount the fact that Mxyzptlk is one of the most powerful beings in DC Comics history, able to create anything he wants out of thin air.

It’s more the point that Mxyzptlk seems to live to torment Superman, putting him through an extreme parade of terrible or mischievous events, and yet still considers himself a friend to Superman. During the events of the Injustice videogame comics, for example, Mxyzptlk went out of his way to protect Superman, even if it meant dooming all of reality to do it.

7 Beppo The Monkey

While Krypto the Superdog is the most famous animal friend of Superman, there are actually a lot of super-powered animal companions between Superman, Supergirl, and Superboy comics. Out of all of these, Superman’s pal Beppo the Monkey is by far the most ridiculous. Created in 1959, Beppo is actually Kryptonian (as apparently Krypton has identical monkeys to Earth) and stowed away aboard the infant Kal-El’s pod when it was sent to Earth. Beppo has the same range of powers Superman has, and they were great friends when he was a kid, before Beppo went off to join the Legion of Super-Pets.

6 Lori Lemaris

The Silver Age of comics in the ’60s is well-known for leaning more into wacky kid-friendly stories than the slightly more serious adventures that came before and after this time period. All of this explains why Superman had a friendship, and later a relationship, with a mermaid in 1959. Lori Lemaris (another in the long line of Superman characters with the initials ‘L.L.’) is a mermaid from the undersea city of Tritonis, which is part of Aquaman’s kingdom of Atlantis. Clark and Lori met at Metropolis University, where she appeared to be human, but after turning down his marriage proposal Clark discovered the truth about her being a mermaid. Lori’s appeared a few times since, where her status as an old flame of Clark’s has put a strain on his relationship with Lois Lane.

5 Bibbo Bibbowski

Considering himself both Superman’s friend and greatest fan, Bibbo Bibbowski is a tough bartender who gained respect for Superman after he tried to take the Man of Steel in a fight – which he lost, obviously. He’s been one of Superman’s biggest supporters ever since, and has occasionally even helped Clark Kent with various stories. Bibbo even attempts to help Superman in the fight with Doomsday that killed him, to no avail. Apart from being a recurring character on Superman: The Animated Series, Bibbo most recently had a cameo appearance in Man of Steel where he was played by Bruce Bohne. 

4 Ambush Bug

The silliest and most intentionally absurd character in DC Comics is Ambush Bug, otherwise known as Irwin Schwab. Ambush Bug is a character who breaks the fourth wall regularly and whose main superpower is the ability to transport anywhere in the Multiverse.

He occasionally tries to be a villain, but more often styles himself as a hero and a friend of Superman, all of which equally annoys the Man of Steel. He also immediately saw through Superman’s Clark Kent disguise and outright mocked other people for not seeing that it’s just a pair of glasses.

3 Captain Strong

Captain Strong was introduced in Action Comics 421 in February 1973, fast becoming a friend of both Superman and Clark Kent but never realizing they were the same person. However, the main reason this friendship is so unusual is that Captain Strong is actually a thinly-veiled parody of Popeye, complete with versions of Olive Oyl, Bluto, Wimpy, and Poopdeck Pappy. His “spinach” is actually an extraterrestrial seaweed that gives him super-human strength, and it had harmful effects too, leading to Superman having to put him down and take him to hospital. They became firm friends after that, even if he didn’t appear in too many Superman comics after the ’70s.

Created as a parody of the Legion of Super-Heroes, the 31st Century team of teenage heroes that both Superman and Supergirl have been a part of at one time or another, the Space Canine Patrol Agents first met Kal-El in July 1966. Their roster includes Paws Pooch (who can grow extra legs), Tail Terrier (who has a rope-like elastic tail), Chameleon Collie (a shapeshifter), and Hot Dog (a pyrokinetic). While they’ve only made a few appearances, they were friends with Superman long before they met their more natural ally, Krypto the Superdog.

While always starting off as a villain to Superman, his flawed genetic mirror-copy Bizarro regularly ends up as an anti-hero and a weirdly close friend of Superman’s. After he created a full world of Bizarros he often looked for Superman’s help with problems. In Superman: The Animated Series, Superman was the one who helped give Bizarro his own world, and Superman often tried to help him when the likes of Mxyzptlk lied to him. Despite being literal opposites in every way, Superman and Bizarro have a surprisingly tight friendship, until someone messes up Bizarro and they start fighting each other again.

Drishyam 2 shoot to not commence till copyright case is pending, assures Panorama Studios to HC

Panorama Studios International, which had acquired the rights of the Hindi remake of the Malayalam hit film Drishyam 2 has now assured the Bombay High Court that they would not begin shooting for the film until the time the copyright suit filed against it is pending. Viacom18 Media Pvt Ltd had approached the HC seeking a restraining order on Panorama Studios International from producing any sequel to the movie in Hindi language.

In its legal suit, Viacom alleged infringement of their copyright and sought recognition and adjudication of copyright and other rights in the production of the sequel in the Drishyam franchise which includes a film on continuation from the previous story.

In its order, the HC said, “The statement is that the defendants (Panorama) will not themselves or through any other person with whom they may have a contract or arrangement, begin shooting of the film in question i.e. a sequel to the film Drishyam“.

Voyagers Review: A Gen Z Lord of the Flies in Space

Voyagers takes an initially intriguing sci-fi premise down a predictable path with no surprises. What begins as a thoughtful exploration of human nature devolves into Generation Z’s Lord of the Flies in space. While most of the primary characters are one-note with little depth, a solid lead performance from Tye Sheridan adds the needed gravitas to stave off absurdity. His ability to bring a realistic demeanor to fantastical situations serves the film well; but not enough to overcome several glaring plot holes and an obvious final act.

In 2063, humanity discovers a habitable planet in distant space. Earth will not recover from climate change, overpopulation, and pollution. A decision is made to send a ship to prepare the planet for colonization. The near hundred year voyage will need multiple generations to complete the mission. Embryos are genetically engineered using the best minds available. The resulting children are raised in isolation as a group. Dr. Richard Alling (Colin Farrell) asks to accompany the children as they embark on the journey.

Years later in space, the crew has matured to teenagers. Christopher (Tye Sheridan) and Zac (Fionn Whitehead) start to have questions about the mission. Richard alleviates their concerns, but notices the changes in behavior. When the boys start deviating from protocols, the opposite sex becomes noticeable. Christopher and Zac now see Sela (Lily-Rose Melody Depp) in a different light. The young crew is forced to take control of the ship after a mysterious accident. Their newfound freedom and authority leaves all inhibitions unchecked.

Voyagers had an opportunity to be daring. The premise establishes a petri dish of closed society where all facets of human behavior is allowed to bloom. Sex and aggression lurches to the forefront as unbridled carnality runs amok. It’s a frat party in space as the bad boys become violent alpha males with no moral compass. The Lord of the Flies analogy is fitting. The problem is that we’ve seen this all before ad nauseam. The character interactions play out exactly as expected. Writer/director Neil Burger (Limitless, Divergent) succumbs to formula when he could have been bold.

 

Two issues perplexed me utterly throughout the film. First is Neil Burger’s use of cutaway shots. In the first act, he inserts random titillating images when the male characters become aroused. Then he abandons this style choice completely for the remainder of the runtime. It’s as if Burger had a cinematic change of heart, which ends up looking awkward and disjointed on screen. There’s a primary setting of a sterile, long white corridor in the ship. In Star Trek, they cleverly angle filming so it looks like the characters are walking around a larger environment. In Voyagers, it seems like the characters are just running up and down the same set. It makes the ship boring. That’s a critical flaw in space based science fiction.

Tye Sheridan excels in visual effects heavy films. He does a good job of conveying emotions without dialogue. Sheridan elevates Voyagers script by showcasing complexity when it’s not spoken. The film needed much more nuance and character development to be successful. Voyagers is a production of Thunder Road Films and AGC Studios. It will be released theatrically on April 9th by Lionsgate.

Jujutsu Kaisen literally means “the way of the blade.” Aoki’s unique illustrative style blends perfectly with the fighting styles and settings he creates. The story revolves around six young men who enter a world of fantasy and mystery.

Jujutsu Kaizen is a Japanese manga series published and serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen Jump since March 2021. The Jujutsu Kaisen Series is also making available in English by Diamond comics. It is shown that they begin with the military but eventually join the local Jujutsu club where they practice with their new friends. They also learn that their mentors have transformed into powerful martial arts experts.

The series also features the manga adaptation, titled Jujutsu: Reiju to Ryukan. In this series, the main characters are Shinichi Chiaki, Mioda Hana, and Takuo Shoji. The manga differs from the TV series in the fact that it adapts the “Reiju” form of martial arts, while the TV series uses the “Ki” form.

The Jujutsu Kaizen series was previously adapted into a Japanese audio drama, titled “Reiju to Ryukan.” The first part of the drama was aired on Fuji TV station and the second part is available on CDs. The first episode of the drama has already been sold out. A live-action TV series, “Reiju to Ryukan,” premiering later in 2021, will be aired again for a third season. Among these include Shotokan, a legendary taekwondo master; Shotokan’s son, Hiroyuki Takahashi, known for his matches with Kenji Tomiki; and Shinya Aoki, also known for his street fighting technique.   Storyline:
